So, weekends are always my favorite because I usually get to fit something fun in, and actually have some semblance of a life. I sewed a little this weekend on the shirt I'm working on in between studying, so I will post pics when it comes a little further along, preferably when they aren't just pattern pieces in a stack. I did post some pics on the tank top I made a while back below. I did another version with ruffles, but it is currently pinned up the wazoo to help me with altering the pattern, so the full pic won't come until later. I really like how the shape is, and it was super fast. The only part that is tricky was the hand sewing (which I actually love doing), the top stitching (making sure it is all even), and the self-made bias tape around the arm hole.Me and Megan also worked on our ATCs for a swap we are doing with the lovely Heather. (Don't peek if you are reading this!) Megan's is the first, and mine is the one with the shoes. The great thing about ATCs are that they are small enough that you don't have to worry about filling it up, and really easy and fun to make. .For the next little while, I'm going to be concentrating on my upcoming test and getting my Halloween costume ready. After going back and forth, I think I have decided on being a 40s girl. I have some vintage dresses I might try out. .
Have fun with all of your Halloween preparations! It will be here before you know it!

Thanks for all the comments ladies! It really does make my day!

I love seeing people's clothes they make themselves. Its the one thing I'd love to give it a go but at the moment am too intimidated too! Can you recommend any good books to teach me? Have a good Halloweeeeeeen!
P.s. Loving those top fabrics - what will you do with them....?! You should join the Sunday Stash and show them off!
Thanks for the clothes love... I really love sewing. When my mom first tried to teach me, I didn't like it (ah, the young days...), but I am so glad I know how, it is such a fun activity, and a good skill to know. One of the books I would recommend (and the one I learned most from in my sewing class at school) is the "New Complete Guide to Sewing" by Readers Digest. Not only do they have helpful tips and answers to probably all your sewing questions, the pictures are pretty clear to understand. Hope this helps! Any more questions, swing them my way, I am happy to help.
Lots of love

Thankyou dearie, I do actually have that book, it was a bargain hidden in a bookshop and the price hadn't been changed for about 10years! I must read it more, I think it would be great for actual tips on sewing but not so much for patterns maybe - Any tips on particular pattern books you have found? Do you have the Sew U books? And thanks for all the tips - much appreciated! :)
Beautiful top and great choice of fabric, you did an excellent job.....
If you are looking for individual patterns, I really like the Built by Wendy patterns, because the patterns are pretty easy to follow, without too much tricky parts, and the instructions are easy to follow. (plus they are really cute!)
I don't actually have the Sew U books, but I have looked at them, and they seem like they would be great. I really like the Built by Wendy patterns, and the Sew U books are by the same lady.
For some home projects with patterns for some clothes, (i think a robe and pajama pants) I really like the Amy Butler book, "In Stitches". I really like the pajama pant project in there, and pajama pants are always a good clothing item to practice on, with some basic techniques. My first sewing project was actually pajama pants.
Sorry this is kind of long, I am definitly not the expert, but just found what works for me. BTW, if you want anymore info, have any sewing questions I can answer, or the pattern info for the tanktop I did in this post (which was an easy project that only took about two or three days of sewing to complete) don't hesitate to ask!
