Just say the word go...

Sorry about the no-post yesterday... I basically came home from school and fell into bed. So on for today's goodies :)

These are some lovely pics I have been in love with lately. I want to travel somewhere, be spontaneous, enjoy the small moments. It would be great to just get away, maybe get some perspective, relaxation time, you name it. It is tempting just looking at these beautiful pics. I'll just have to dream about it for now

Enjoy!

Rebecca Thuss

This lady is so talented! The wonderful Rebecca Thuss is amazing! She worked as a creative director for many Martha Stewart Magazine articles, as well as her work for Martha Stewart Weddings. I love her portfolio, and you can check it out here, as well as some of her more recent work I posted below. Isn't that archway fabulous?

Beautiful Sensibility

Take a look at these gorgeous house shots from the lovely lady over at hula seventy, Andrea Jenkins. Her 1920s-era cottage in Portland, Oregon has such a beautiful sensibility. I would love if someday my house could look like this. Take a peek below and then head over to cafemom for the complete interview.

Cute Couple

I know, I know, I am shamefully hiding my face right now. I'm so sorry I haven't posted in forever. Guilty party, anyone? I have been so busy that I usually think about posting right before I fall asleep (in the middle of homework, I might add). This semester handed me a huge workload in the form of reading. I pretty much read about 1-2 books a week, and write about 6-8 pages of work a week as well. Exhausting, but mostly in a good way. I am learning tons. Right now for my Women's lit class I am reading the memoir Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi. I would recommend it to anyone. It's a true story about the author forming a private book club (of sorts) with seven girls who are living under the suppressive social conditions in Iran. It really looks at the power and message behind literature.
.
So, although I have been negligent in the past, I am committing myself to a week straight of posts to get me back on track. (If there is anyone still around to read them :)
.
Today I wanted to share some pics I had from Teen Vogue's February shoot in 2008. I love the quirkiness in the whole thing. They are lovely. Here are some of my favorites:
.

Aren't these adorable? I love the one with the yellow jacket and the other picture with the blue umbrella.
.
I'll be back for more tomorrow. Until next time...

Visual Goodness

.

The Selby has a great archive of glimpses into artists homes and working spaces, and I wanted to share one of my favorites among many. Aren't these photos gorgeous? This is the office of Daniela Kamiliotis, New York set and costume designer, artist, and vice president of the Ralph Lauren women's collection. I love the way she surrounds herself with inspiration and lots of visual objects. Check out more pictures here, and while you're there, take a look around at the other great photos. I will probably share more spaces later one, it's too good to keep to myself :)

Martha Stewart Does It Again

I am sorry I have been neglecting you blog... I hope you will forgive me, but I have been super busy the last week or so, and I am still trying to get my footing.
.
So, a quick review of all things Christmas and New Year:
.
- Christmas was great, I had a wonderful vacation from school. There were a lot of movie nights and late night book reading. I miss those days already.
- We had a white Christmas, just what I wanted.
- I got this coat as one of my surprises-- so excited!
- Registered for classes, and I'm now in the swing of things.
.
This semester I'm taking a Women's Lit class, Modern American Lit class, pattern making class (yah!), advanced writing class, and ASL. My schedule is super busy, and I'm not getting too much sleep, but I'll survive (I just tell myself I can sleep in on Saturday).
.
Nothing much to report otherwise... I wanted to post these pictures of a great feature in the Martha mag this month. I love their creative process, and these pictures are so inspiring! Maybe one day they could hire me.... wishful thinking for now.
.
Have a good day, I can't wait for it to be over! My bed is definitely calling my name.

New Perspectives

I've been looking for some glasses for the new year, and I couldn't help but fall in love with these. I love the whole ad campaign, and Zooey Dechanel looks fantastic, especially the first pic. I'm in love with anything vintage chic. I might have to see if I can pick up a pair.

Changes for the New Year

Happy 2009! I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello. It is good to be back, I have missed blogging about lots of lovely things! I hope everyone's holiday was as good as mine. I had a much needed break. The new semester starts tomorrow, so no more late night Audrey Hepburn movie marathons, or reading in bed until 2:00a.m. It is time to hit the books. Most of my classes will be fun, and I am super excited about a class I have wanted to take for a while, patternmaking. I'll update as I go along.
.
Tomorrow or so I'll post more about my break, my new classes, and some fun things I've made. But for now, I need to get some beauty sleep before my early class.

P.S. How do you like the new header and email link? I decided to design a new look for the new year. It was time for a change.
