Weekend Mystique

Have a mysterious kind of weekend! I am (thankfully) out of the rain here in D.C. and am looking forward to a night of movies and cupcakes. See you on the other side of the week!

Tag Teamed Part 2

Part Two:

12. What is your most challenging goal right now? Trying to limit my time connected to the computer. Once I get hooked on reading blogs it seems I can never stop.
.
13. What is your weirdest obsession? This would definitely have to be people watching. Anywhere, everywhere, and wherever I go I am constantly watching the myriad of people that pass me by. Fascinating.
.
14. Why did you start a blog? To get to know other fellow bloggers and to see if we could someday break into the world of Etsy.
.
15. What is your blog about? (2-3 elevator pitch) Anything that inspires us. A place where we can be ourselves.
.
16. Which blogs are you obsessed with at the moment? I love reading blogs whether they are new finds or ones I have been reading for a while. Some of my favorites of the moment would have to be Nectar and Light, Rockstar Diaries, Snippet and Ink, Oh Happy Day, and the Nie Nie Dialogues.
.
17. What is your dream job (realistic or unrealistic)? This is hard since there are so many jobs I think I would love. I would love to be a jewelry designer, professional dancer or own my own bakery or clothes store.
.
18. If you could change professions or careers, what would you like to try? (realistic or unrealistic) Since my current career (like Mel) is a student, I think I would most like to know what I will end up doing when I end my college career. The possibilities are endless…who knows?
.
19. Who is your favorite designer of the moment? Chanel. Hands down.
.
20. What's your favorite brand of jeans? Jeans are probably one of the items of clothing that I have the hardest time with. No matter what brand I buy they never seem to fit in all the right places. Right now my go to place for jeans is at The Gap…but that might soon change if I can find something better. Any suggestions?
.
21. One thing you would snitch out of someone's closet, with no regrets? My sister has fabulous coats in wonderful colors. She just got one this Christmas from JCrew that she posted about here. I would love to own that coat.
.
22. What piece of designer clothing would you most like to own (new or vintage)? I too, like Mel, would go for something vintage. A dress, jacket, or handbag perhaps.

.
Thanks for letting us spill the beans on what we love. See you on Friday!

Tag Teamed

Wednesday already? Today has been uneventful. You know, those days when you feel restless, like you should be doing something, but don't want to do it at the same time? I know, maybe it's just me, but it is one of those days. Remember the tag I completed from Gracie awhile ago? Meg decided she wanted to complete hers too, so this is her first half. Read on for the goodness:
...

1. What is your current obsession? I am obsessed with Polaroid’s, Chanel, leather sandals from JCrew, summer time picnics, bikes with baskets, and postcards adorned with vintage stamps.
.
2. Who is the last person you hugged? Melissa.
.
3. What's your favorite dinner? I really love eating at Kneaders and ordering their Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich, always followed by some sort of dessert of course!
.
4. What was the last thing you bought (to wear)? The last thing I bought was a pair of jeans at the Gap. Not a great purchase I might add as they are already stretched out and falling down every other second.
..
5. What are you listening to right now? Melissa mostly introduces me to her newly discovered music finds, but I must say I love listening to Billie Holiday (a new favorite), Adele, and Ingrid Michaelson.
.
6. What is your favorite weather? Hot summer weather. I hate the cold and always welcome the rise in temperature whenever it comes.
.
7. Say something to the person who tagged you. Thank you so much for thinking of our blog for your tag. I have loved getting to know you through your blog and to see all the fun projects you are constantly working on. Can’t wait to see what else you have in store!
.
8. Tea or Coffee? Definitely neither but I do love drinking hot chocolate on cold winter days.
. 9. What did you want to become as a child? Prima Ballerina.
.
10. If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? It would have to be either London or Italy (specifically Capri). What a lovely way to spend an hour.

11. Who do you want to meet in person? This is hard because my list is long and ever growing. I too like Mel, would love to meet Audrey Hepburn. I also would love to dance with Gene Kelly and to sing with Billie Holiday.

To be continued...
.
On another note, we are so flattered to receive a Lovely Blog Award from a fellow lovely, Umama. Seriously, I am blushing over here.

So, to pass on the loveliness, here are the rules:
  1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.
  2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you've newly discovered.
  3. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

Just 15? Okay, here are the nominees: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, rockstar diaries, The City Sage, i love moonshine and piffle, fric and frac, dress, design, & decor, oh happy day, ruffling feathers, elephantine, English Muse, 100 Layer Cake, Twig & Thistle, Darling Dexter, Here's lookin at me kid, and you are my fave.

Summer Reads

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Weekend! Nothing too exciting here-- me and my sister just hung out with my brother and his family, had dinner, played a little PlayStation... oh yeah, way exciting ;) I've been reading a bunch of books lately, and am in the mood for something new. I just finished Atonement by Ian McEwan and Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Both great reads. Are you reading anything good? If so, I would love to know.
.
Be back for more tomorrow-- happy Tuesday!

Camping in Style

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has some plans and goings-on that will keep them busy (but not too busy:) I wish I was going somewhere exciting or doing something fancy, but what I am really wishing for is some relaxation time. And what would be a better place than under the summer sky in some of Cath Kidston's new camping gear? I immediately wanted this when the surprise landed amongst my email. I could totally ignore the outdoor bugs and mud if I got to sleep in one of these. Megan and I also loved all the other accessories. (So much that Meg is already coveting the "London Cag-in-a-bag"). Check out more here.
.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Covetous Closets

Okay, I have this thing about closets. And organization. I love organizing things with labels, tupperware, the whole nine yards. So, that said, who wouldn't want their closets looking like these? (Count me in, especially if the wardrobe comes with it:)

Sabrina

As I watched this movie tonight, it just reminded me of how much I love Paris, Audrey Hepburn, and classic movies that never fail to provide me with just what I need. Lovely.

Book Personalization

Being a former librarian, anything to personalize my own book collection is right up my alley. Especially these bookplates from Martha Stewart. I'm officially putting this on my to do list. Now, if I can just finish all my other projects first...

Tucker Summer Collection

.

.

I am loving the airiness of the new Summer collection at Tucker. Especially the romper. My favorite right now is the blouse. Maybe I'll have to play copy cat and make a pattern like that for myself.

Favorite Part Two

Here is the exciting conclusion:

12. What is your most challenging goal right now? Making sure I focus on work, and not always procrastinating my time away. This is always my goal :)

13. What is your weirdest obsession? I have a weird obsession with T.V. sometimes. When I am flipping through the channels, I might pause on a show, watch a few minutes, but then I have to see what happens next. Sometimes no matter what. This is how I end up watching so many creepy Lifetime movies. They hook you from the moment the psycho nanny kills her employer's girlfriend up until her attempts at murdering his daughter. Exciting ;)

14. Why did you start a blog? I wanted to share all of the cool things I find, my favorites, musings, etc. It is a great place to meet new people and a space where I can document my current obsessions.

15. What is your blog about? (2-3 elevator pitch) Fashion, design, music, movies, photos. A multitude of things. Someplace silly and fun. Everyone needs one of those.

16. Which blogs are you obsessed with at the moment? Too many to list, but I love please sir, 100 layer cake, granace dore (some foreign flair), the tumbleweed, the selby. Just a few of my recent additions.

17. What is your dream job (realistic or unrealistic)? Food taster or roller coaster tester would be nice. For realistic careers, I would love to be a writer and illustrator, or something working in an international environment. Doctor or fashion designer wouldn't be bad either.

18. If you could change professions or careers, what would you like to try (realistic or unrealistic)? I don't know what I would change, because my current career is student. Plus, I am majoring in English and Illustration, so my dreams are already on their way to being fulfilled :)

19. Who is your favorite designer of the moment? Once again, where do I begin? I guess one of my longtime favorites is classic Chanel. I also love Valentino and Marc Jacobs.

20. What's your favorite brand of jeans? I haven't really tried many brands, but my go-to jean is usually something made by Gap. They seem to fit me the best.

21. One thing you would snitch out of some one's closet, with no regrets? My sister has a great black dress from Anthropologie that is so cute. Maybe I could sneak it away somehow...

22. What piece of designer clothing would you most like to own (new or vintage)? I would love to own vintage Chanel or Valentino. A dress that is amazing and makes me feel glamorous.
.
If you want to play along, I am officially tagging you. You know you want to.
.
Thanks for sticking around for the fun; until next time!

Favorite Part One

Hello everyone! I am signing in from Washington D.C.! Megan and I have settled in and look forward to much sightseeing. We have already visited Georgetown today and want to go back again very soon!

Recently, we were tagged by the lovely Gracie, so I will share some of my favorites and obsessions. This will be called Part 1:

1. What is your current obsession? Lately, I have been obsessed with sewing clothes and making my own patterns. I just finished up two pieces: one is a button up shirt with a pleated collar out of mustard yellow linen and the second is a floral shift dress with ruffles down the front that I belt when I wear it.

2. Who is the last person you hugged? My niece, Sasha.

3. What's your favorite dinner? I love Italian food, so anything pasta is good with me. Followed by desert, of course :)

4. What was the last thing you bought (to wear)? I bought some skinny cropped jeans and a basic kelly green tee from Gap.

5. What are you listening to right now? I've been into some old jazz favorites like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday lately. I am also loving Slow Club and some musical tunes. Nothing beats Sound of Music or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

6. What is your favorite weather? I love the fall time. Crisp enough for layers, but not too cold.

7. Say something to the person who tagged you. Thanks for the tag! It is fun to put some of this stuff down. I love getting to know other people and their favorites through blogs!

8. Tea or Coffee? Neither. But I could do with some lemonade :)

9. What did you want to become as a child? It started off with the desire to become an artist, then went from writer to doctor to teacher. I was an indecisive child :)

10. If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? Paris. or London. Just leave me there and I'll be happy.

11. Who do you want to meet in person? I would love to meet Audrey Hepburn or Cary Grant. They seem so charming. Meeting Jane Austen or someone like Charles Dickens wouldn't be bad either.

Part 2 next time

Turning 100...posts, that is.

Hello friends! Sorry for the absence, but I have been so busy getting ready for my vacation. Megan and I leave Saturday morning for a 5-week stay with my brother and his family. He lives in Delaware, right outside of Washington D.C. I am super excited, but there is so much left to do! I am trying to get my packing list done, which means planning out any of my possible needs. Do you ever feel like you forget everything when you are away from home? Any helpful tips for packing or about vacations in general? Or even some spots not to miss?
.
Vacations always remind me of summer laziness and enjoying a foreign surrounding. These toast pictures capture that attitude perfectly.

See you on Tuesday with some questions and a tag!
